Description

This hybrid theory-production course will investigate both from an analytical and creative stand point the multiple historical and theoretical discourses surrounding film editing, from early Russian theories of montage to the development of the continuity editing system in Hollywood narrative cinema, to alternative conceptions of editing in non-mainstream and non-narrative cinema. It will focus on the interrelation between film grammar, storytelling techniques and editing styles.
